Feeding screws at 60 parts per minute for EGO Elektrokomponente

A bowl feeder that orients screws with washers and feeds them to the electrical switch assembly line at EGO Elektrokomponente in Zagreb, with a capacity of 60 parts per minute on an AFAG drive.

01 - Challenge

Screws with washers had to be fed to the line, oriented, at high speed

EGO Elektrokomponente assembles electrical switches on a line that requires a continuous supply of screws with washers, oriented and ready to be picked. Manual or unoriented feeding could not keep up with the required assembly cycle time.

The requirement also included the ability to handle different screw lengths without building a new bowl for every part variant.

02 - Solution

A bowl feeder on an AFAG drive with a capacity of 60 parts per minute

We built a bowl feeder whose bowl orients the screws with washers and delivers them to the discharge track, ready to be picked. The system is powered by an AFAG vibratory drive.

The same orientation principle works for different screw lengths, so the bowl does not have to be redesigned for every part variant.

60 parts per minute

The system reaches a capacity of 60 parts per minute - enough for the cycle time of the switch assembly line.

One principle for several lengths

The same bowl orients screws of different lengths without changing the track geometry.

AFAG drive

The AFAG vibratory drive ensures stable and repeatable bowl operation.

03 - Result

A continuous supply of oriented screws to the assembly line
