Manual stacking was not precise enough for the robotic line downstream
Knauf Insulation in Škofja Loka produces insulation panels for household appliances - refrigerators, freezers and ovens. At the end of the production line, six workers stacked the finished panels into boxes by hand.
The goal was to reduce the number of workers at this station from six to three and, more importantly, to achieve consistent and precise stacking - because the next production line uses a robot that needs an exactly positioned insert, which manual stacking could not guarantee.
The mobile STACKER machine, built into the production flow
We developed an automated stacking machine that takes Knauf's panels directly from the end of the production line and stacks them according to the selected recipe - with no manual handling. The machine is built as a mobile unit: Knauf moves it to the line when needed and removes it when other product formats are running.
The result is a solution that not only freed up labour but is also precise and repeatable enough to serve as a reliable input for the robot that takes over the next step on the line.
Fewer people on the line, higher accuracy, ready for robotics
