BRIZ - electronic component packaging machine
A machine for counting, extraction and packing of electronic components into boxes with inserted protective papers, ready for shipping, for TDK Croatia.
From component card to packed box
BRIZ counts, extracts and packs electronic components. Cards carrying the components are loaded onto the infeed board, from where an electric axis transfers them to the extraction position, where a punch knocks the components out of the card.
The extracted parts drop onto a sliding plate above the packaging box, where they are counted by a camera connected to a PC running software developed in OpenCV. The PLC compares the number of parts detected by the camera with the expected number to verify that no part is stuck or badly extracted - if the count is correct, the sliding plate opens and the parts are gently lowered into the box, while the box conveyor moves back and forth to ensure they are stacked evenly.
As soon as the required number of parts has accumulated in the box, it is conveyed to the position for inserting protective papers and placing the lid. After the lid is placed, the finished box is conveyed onward, ready for shipping.
Interface and control logic
The entire counting, extraction and packing process is controlled by a PLC, which coordinates the infeed magazines, the counting system and the box conveying system.
