How it works

Soldering with two-hand control and a guarded work area

SOLMAC is a station for soldering electronic components onto a printed circuit board (PCB) for TDK Croatia in Kutina. The operator places the component into the housing located in the work area of the station, which is guarded on all sides by a light curtain.

The soldering cycle starts only when the operator presses both two-hand control buttons at the same time - this keeps the operator's hands outside the work area at the moment the soldering iron goes into operation. After the servo axis positions the soldering iron and soldering is complete, the soldered component is taken out and the process is repeated for the next part.

Control

Interface and control logic

Operator safety at the station is the priority, because components are inserted manually while the soldering cycle is automated. All safety devices are controlled by a safety PLC certified for this risk category.

Physical control station

  • Two-hand control for starting the cycle
  • Light curtain around the work area
  • Emergency stop
  • Servo axis for positioning the soldering iron

Functionality

  • Monitoring the status of all safety devices
  • Signaling of the soldering cycle status
  • Soldering parameters adjustable through recipes
Installed equipment and features

Technical details

Two-hand control

The soldering cycle starts only when both of the operator's hands are on the buttons, out of reach of the soldering iron.

Light curtain

Entering the work area during the cycle stops the station immediately.

Safety PLC

All safety devices - light curtain, emergency stop, two-hand control - are monitored by a certified safety PLC.

Servo axis for the soldering iron

Precise positioning ensures a repeatable soldering result on every part.
