How it works

From a full raster plate to a stack of grids ready for further processing

KOTRA automatically transports, ejects and stacks electronic components on grids for TDK Croatia in Kutina. The parts arrive seated in raster plates - plates with holes - stacked in the magazine for full raster plates. A handler automatically takes a full raster plate from the magazine and positions it under the press, and after ejection returns the empty raster plate to the magazine for empty raster plates.

On the other side of the machine is the magazine for empty grids, from which the grids are automatically transferred onto a conveyor belt and brought under the press. The press, fitted with multiple tools, ejects the parts from the raster plate directly onto the grid. The belt then moves the full grid to a free position, where a second handler picks it up and places it on the stack. Once the stack reaches five full grids, a conveyor sends it out of the machine for further processing.

Control

Interface and control logic

Since ejection is performed by a hydropneumatic press, which belongs to a special safety category of machinery, most of the control logic is dedicated to safety and autonomous operation.

Physical control station

  • HMI panel
  • Push buttons for machine control
  • Magazines for full and empty raster plates
  • Magazine for empty grids

Functionality

  • Monitoring of press and manipulator cycles
  • Monitoring of raster plate and grid magazine fill levels
  • Error signaling on the conveyor and press
Installed equipment and features

Technical details

Hydropneumatic press

Built to a special safety category of machinery, with multiple tools that eject the parts from the raster plate onto the grid in a single stroke.

Autonomous magazines

Separate magazines for full and empty raster plates and for empty grids extend machine run time with no need for an operator to be present at all times.

Vacuum handling

Handlers on electric axes with vacuum grippers precisely transfer raster plates and grids between process stages.

Stacking

A second handler stacks the full grids five high, and the outfeed conveyor sends each stack on for further processing.
