ZUBKO - Machine for optical inspection of tooth segments

A station that uses vibratory feeders to bring tooth segments to a camera, measures the tooth dimensions on every part and gently lines up good parts before lowering them into a box.

How it works

Optical tooth inspection with gentle stacking of good parts

The parts are poured into a hopper, from which a conveyor feeds them to a bowl feeder. The feeder bowl has a wear-resistant coating because the parts are heavy and metallic. The bowl feeder then positions the parts in the machine, where an industrial camera captures them and a PC running the OPKO software processes the image and measures the tooth dimensions of each tooth segment.

OPKO compares the measured dimensions with the specified tolerances. Bad parts are rejected immediately, while a pusher lines up the good parts on a slat - once the entire row is filled, the slat gently lowers them into the box to prevent damage. The box is indexed in the process so that the parts are stacked evenly.

Control

Interface and control logic

A standard operator interface: an HMI panel with physical start/stop buttons below it - the same control station operators know from other ENSO machines. Next to the machine there is also a separate monitor connected to the PC running the OPKO software, which shows the image of each part with its measured dimensions in real time and highlights damage on NOK parts.

Physical control station

  • HMI panel (Siemens Simatic)
  • Start/stop buttons
  • Emergency stop
  • Status signal light

Functionality

  • Live optical inspection image with measured tooth dimensions
  • Highlighting of damage on NOK parts
  • Real-time part status (OK/NOK)
  • Manual machine control
  • Display of alarms and errors
  • Saving of inspection statistics

Technical details

Optical inspection with OPKO software

An industrial camera connected to a PC captures every part, and ENSO's OPKO software measures the tooth dimensions and compares them with the specified tolerances.

Wear-resistant bowl

The bowl of the bowl feeder has an anti-wear coating because the parts are heavy and metallic.

Lining up on a slat

A pusher lines up good parts in a row on a slat before they are lowered into the box, instead of letting them fall freely.

Indexed lowering

A full row of parts is gently lowered into a box that is indexed so the parts are stacked evenly, without damage.

Inspection statistics and archive

OPKO on the PC shows the image of each part with its dimensions, highlights damage on NOK parts and saves inspection statistics.

Siemens S7-1200 control

The PLC coordinates feeding, the pusher and synchronization with the optical inspection throughout the cycle.
