EPRI - Electronic component marking machine
A machine that uses two-axis servo positioning to mark electronic components in a tray, piece by piece, for TDK Šumperk.

Marking components in XY space based on axis position
EPRI marks electronic components for TDK Šumperk in the Czech Republic. A tray of unmarked components is inserted into the machine onto a fixture that positions it correctly, and positioning in XY space is performed by two servo axes that carry the printer head.
The printer head height (Z axis) is set manually, while the PLC controls the X and Y axes, receives their position information and, depending on the axis position, sends a command to the printer to perform the marking. The printer head is a Markem-Imaje unit with predefined print messages and communicates with the PLC over Ethernet - depending on the recipe, the PLC sends telegrams that change the message the printer prints. At the end of the process the axes return to their initial position and the tray can be removed from the machine, holding identically marked electronic components ready for further processing.
Interface and control logic
The machine is controlled by a PLC, while operator interaction with the machine is handled through an HMI panel and push buttons.
